Students win day of pizza and gaming

Students at the University of Bath have won a day of pizza and computer gaming – for the whole University.

A temporary games arcade will be set up in the foyer of the library from 9am – 5pm on Thursday 22 March, and a ready supply of pizzas will be delivered every 30 minutes between 11am and 4.30pm.

Students from the Department of Computer Science won the prize after taking part in the Microsoft Student Supremo competition.

In an on-line quiz, students had to answer ten questions about Microsoft products as quickly and as accurately as possible.

They received points every time they entered the quiz – and managed to pip Aston University to the number one spot on the final day of the competition

“We’re very proud to have beaten off all the competition to win this great prize for the University,” said second year computer science student Chris Archer.

“We hope that as many people as possible can come along and have fun on the day”

Chris and fellow students are currently deciding which computer games will be on offer through the X-box 360 arcade machines.

The prize coincides with a launch event being held at the University to mark the arrival of Microsoft’s new Windows Vista & Office software.

The event takes place on Thursday 22 March from 6.15-9pm in 8W 1.1, and visitors to the launch will be able watch demonstrations, win prizes and try out the new software with opportunities for questions and answers.
