Nikhil and Nehal
Nikhil and Nehal

Press Release - 29 June 2007

Second set of twins graduates with identical degrees

Another pair of identical twins have graduated with first class degrees from the University of Bath this week.

Nikhil and Nehal Mehra, aged 22 from Wimbledon in London, were awarded their economics degrees at a ceremony in Bath Abbey after completing their four year course this summer.

They are the second set of identical twins to graduate from the University of Bath this week - after Hannah and Louisa Jeffreys graduated with first class degrees in biochemistry.

Having lived together in Bath, Nikhil and Nehal will study together for a masters degree in economics and finance at the London School of Economics from September.

Nehal said: “We have similar interests and listen to the same kinds of music and support the same football team (Arsenal).

“We lived together whilst at University, which helped because we could study together.”

Nikhil, who is the older brother by three minutes, said: “There is a level of healthy competition between the two of us, which is a real spur for us to both do well.

“We are both proud and pleased for each other when we do well.”

Nikhil and Nehal don’t have any specific plans for after their masters course, but are both keen on careers in investment banking.

“Nikhil and Nehal have worked extremely hard during their time at Bath and throughout their placement year at HSBC and the Bank of England,” said Professor John Hudson, one of their lecturers from the Department of Economics & International Development at the University of Bath.

“In addition they were genuinely nice people to have around the department.”
