Staff Recognition Awards 2007

The 2007 Staff Recognition Awards were presented by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Glynis Breakwell, at this year's Staff Recognition Evening held in the Claverton Rooms yesterday.

This year's winners were Steve Holmes, and Mark Fletcher, both of the Estates Department. The winners were presented to the Vice-Chancellor by the Chair of the Selection Committee, Professor Barry Crittenden.

Steve Holmes, the University's Mechanical Services Engineer, responsible for the operation and maintenance of all mechanical installations and plant within the University, was nominated by colleague Jackie Cavanagh, who commented on Steve's ingenuity in trying to find solutions to keeping systems working within the limited budgets available.

Mark Fletcher is the Chargehand Porter in Wessex House, and was nominated by the staff of the Finance Office, who commented on how he always went out of his way to complete work, even though the task may be outside his normal duties - giving as an example his assistance in setting up the Finance Office recycling scheme.

The Staff Recognition Award is made annually to any members of staff, other than academics, who have shown initiative, innovation, creativity and who have worked beyond the call of duty to the benefit of the University.
