Update on student/community liaison

The Student Liaison Committee was recently axed by Bath Council but a review is underway to ensure that student/community liaison work is able to continue.

The Council is undertaking a review of the current student/community liaison process and has set up a new group, the Bath Student Community Partnership as a high level group to steer liaison activities.

This group includes the leader of the Council and the cabinet member for Children's Services. High level representatives from the University of Bath (Professor Ian Jamieson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor) and Bath Spa University and student reps also attend the group.

The work of Wali Rahman, who was employed as Community Liaison Co-ordinator of the Student Liaison Committee, is continuing as normal; the usual publications: Good Neighbours booklets and the Bath student housing handbook are in preparation ready for students returning to Bath for the new term.

At the end of October, Wali will begin sending out the regular emails to students, which include advice from the Council Waste and Recycling Department, Avon & Somerset Constabulary and Avon Fire Authority.

The Student Action Line and complaints system will continue to run as normal. (See Related Links)

Further updates about student/community liaison arrangements will be published on the University homepage in due course. In the meantime, please contact Wali Rahman with any queries.
