Munchies to close for refurbishment

Munchies located on level 2 of Norwood House will close on 24 August for refurbishment work. The facility will re-open at the start of the new year under its new name, The Terrace.

A statement from the General Manager of the Students' Union, Ian Robinson, is given below:

"What we are proposing is to relocate within this space (Munchies), the incredibly successful Pitstop deli bar, currently located on level 3 within the Plug Bar. Students have been asking for some time to have this service expanded and to make it more widely accessible.

"The space freed up in the Plug Bar will be converted into additional social space, extending the floor area in one of the few large areas of social space available to students during the day.

"Our customers and members have also been telling us that they'd like the Students' Union to provide more healthy options and to provide increased space for them to meet with their friends during the day. Not only will we be able to offer more room in the Plug Bar, we will also be able to offer increased seating capacity in the new Terrace.

"Unfortunately, there is insufficient space for everything we'd like to provide and the SU Executive Team have had to make difficult decisions on priorities.

"The Terrace will open in September, offering a wider range of sandwiches, baguettes and wraps, individualised to order (including an online service), as well as a branded coffee and juice offer. We shall also offer a limited range at breakfast, notably products such as a quality bacon/sausage baps and so on.

"I'd like to thank our customers for their continued support and to apolgise that the service will be unavailable throughout the whole summer break.

"However, we look forward to welcoming everyone to the new facility when it opens again in time for the start of the new year."
