24-hour “Relay for Life” for cancer research to take place at University

A 24-hour “Relay for Life” takes place this weekend at the University in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The event takes place at the 400m track behind the Sports Training Village from 12 noon on Saturday to 12 noon Sunday.

It will feature entertainments from fire juggling to live music. The organisers promise a family atmosphere and a chance to learn more about Cancer Research UK.

During the event, teams of people take turns walking or running laps. Each team will try to keep at least one member on the track at all times over the 24 hours.

The event includes a Lap of Honour walked or run by cancer survivors, and a tribute to those lost through cancer in a Candle of Hope ceremony.
