International conference on photobiology takes place at University

Around 380 scientists will be taking part in the international congress of the European Society for Photobiology at the University over the next six days (1-6 September 2007).

Many of the world’s leading scientists will be attending the conference and the areas covered include sunlight effects, skin cancer therapy and the many other aspects of the interaction of ultraviolet and visible light with biological systems.

The event will be chaired by Professor Rex Tyrrell, from the Department of Pharmacy & Pharmacology. He said: “With so many pre-eminent scientists coming to the congress, this is quite a major event for the University.

“This scientific area is one of the department’s strengths and it is a great opportunity to welcome so many leading names from around the world to the University campus.”
