Press Release - 07 September 2007

Open day to launch new part-time courses at the University of Bath

People in Bath are invited to call in to an open day in the city centre on Saturday 15 September, to find out more about the University of Bath’s new autumn programme of part-time day and evening courses.

The open day runs from 10am-1pm, at Carpenter House, Broad Quay, and gives people the chance to talk to staff about the broad and varied programme and get help and advice on selecting a course. People can enrol on the spot to ensure they don’t miss out on a place.

The autumn programme, which includes a wide range of new educational and leisure courses, is held at the University’s Claverton campus and at Carpenter House. Term begins on the 8 October and enrolment closes at the end of September.

Computer facilities will be available at the open day for enrolment and help will be on hand if needed.

New courses for this term include Ashtanga yoga, singing for everyone and contemporary photography. There will also be a wide range of courses ranging from business skills to counselling, and music to horticulture.

For people who can’t commit to an evening every week, or would like to get a flavour for the subject first, there are a number of day schools running this term. The courses include: learn to draw & paint in a day, learning to use your digital camera, and travel writing.

“The open day is a way for people to come along and chat to the staff about the courses and what they cover, so that they have all the information they need to pick a course that’s right for them,” said Dr Philip Jones, Assistant Director of Lifelong Learning at the University.

“For people thinking about a course in art & design or IT it’s also a good opportunity to visit the excellent facilities that Carpenter House has to offer.”

For more information about the courses on offer this autumn, and to enrol, see the links above.
