Great improvements for teaching spaces

As well as making ongoing efforts to increase the amount of learning spaces on the Claverton Campus, the University is also investing substantially in the teaching spaces that are already available. Over the coming three years, £1.1 million will be spent on the refurbishment of General Teaching Areas.

“We know that a pleasant physical environment supports better learning, so the University’s intention is to create a better experience for both students and staff when using teaching spaces,” says Gwen van der Velden, the Director of Learning & Teaching Enhancement, who chairs the General Teaching Areas Working Party.

The majority of refurbishments will take place this year and next. The refurbished spaces will have a more modern look and feel and improvements will include the updating of some of the technological equipment.

Works in three large lecture theatres are scheduled for this year: 8West 2.1, 4East 3.10 and 4 East 3.38, and by 2012/13, a total of 37 teaching spaces will have been improved.
