Contribution Pay Scheme – Grades 1-9

The University recently introduced a new Contribution Pay Scheme to recognise and reward staff in Grades 1-9 for exceptional performance in their current grade.

You are eligible to be considered for such payments if you are in a job within Grades 1-9 and have more than 6 months service with the University, which this year means you should have started with the University before 1st April 2008. Normally, you should have participated in an appraisal during the previous 12 months, but this will not be insisted upon for this year.

You will receive notification from your Head of Department inviting you to write a statement of no more than 250 words which draws attention to your achievements, measured, where possible, against the objectives agreed in your appraisal. The closing date for written statements to be returned to Heads of Department is 20th October 2008.

Head of Departments will attend awards panels from late October onwards. All decisions made will be passed onto a review panel whose purpose is to ensure that a consistent approach is adopted across the University.

It is planned that the outcomes will be announced by February 2009 with the one off merit award being paid in the February payroll.

Further details about the Contribution Pay Scheme, including the criteria for exceptional performance are available on the Human Resources web pages (see related links).
