University's thoughts with injured physics student

The University is sorry to report that second year Department of Physics undergraduate Rhys Thomas has been involved in a train accident.

Rhys, who is from South Wales, is being treated at Bristol's Frenchay Hospital and is currently in a serious but stable condition.

The exact circumstances of the incident are not yet known but it is not being treated as suspicious by British Transport Police who are still conducting an investigation.

The University's thoughts are with Rhys and his family at this difficult time, and we are providing all the necessary support we can to Rhys' family.

We recognise this terrible incident is bound to be having an impact on staff and students who know Rhys, and want to remind you all that support is available from the University counselling service.
