Gas leak leads to road closures in Bath

UPDATE - 3.30pm - We have been informed that the situation is now resolved and roads open.

Police have closed the London Road between Walcot Street and Cleveland Bridge to drivers and pedestrians, including the bridge itself and Guinea Lane.

There are a number of temporary road closures in place following a gas leak in Nelson Place East, Bath, at around 1.50pm today.

Police have closed the London Road between Walcot Street and Cleveland Bridge to drivers and pedestrians, including the bridge itself and Guinea Lane.

In order to help minimise the impact on traffic through the city, police and the Council have temporarily lifted the restrictions at the city centre bus gates and Pulteney Bridge.

Power supplies to parts of Walcot Street and London Road are also expected to be temporarily shut down.

Three properties opposite the premises where the gas leak is believed to stem from have been evacuated and the fire and rescue service is in attendance.
