Sustainable Energy & the Environment Research Showcase - 17 September 2008

The University is to open its latest research institute next Wednesday as part of a special event to promote our research in the fields of sustainability and the environment.

The University’s Chancellor, Lord Tugendhat, will introduce David Willetts MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities & Skills, who will discuss the challenges of climate change and environmental sustainability.

David Willetts will then launch the University’s new Institute for Sustainable Energy & the Environment and open the Research Showcase taking place in Founders Hall.

The exhibition will bring together researchers and experts from many sustainable energy and environmental disciplines, showcasing a range of innovative and cutting-edge research from the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Plymouth and the West of England, together with the Royal Agricultural College.

The event will be attended by key industrialists, research councils, local and national government representatives and other key stakeholders from across the South West.

Professor Jane Millar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, said: "We are delighted the University is hosting such an important event which draws together some of the leading experts on environmental sustainability from across the region."

All staff are welcome to attend but please be aware numbers in the University Hall are limited and entrance will be on a first come first served basis.

The presentation will begin at 10.30am in the University Hall, with the exhibition running from 11am until 3pm in the Founders Hall.
