Bath's bloomin' students competition: win vouchers worth £150

Green fingered students are invited to tackle their unruly gardens and enter Bath’s bloomin’ students competition 2008 to win £150 worth of shopping vouchers.

The annual competition was set up in partnership with Bath & North East Somerset Council (BANES) as an ongoing initiative to improve ‘town and gown’ relations. The competition is open to all students in privately rented accommodation in Bath.

The initiative is only the starting point in an effort to get students and their landlords to take more pride in their gardens and homes, in order to help create more pleasant communities in the city for local residents.

“Some student gardens could play a key role in Bath's entry into the national Britain in bloom contest, when judges visit the city later this summer,” said Barry Cruse, judge of the competition and chairman of the Bath in Bloom Committee and Moorland Road Traders' Association.

The tenants of the winning garden will receive a £150 shopping voucher, second place students will receive a £100 voucher and third place students will receive a £75 voucher. The competition will be judged in May.

Application forms are available via the link above until the closing date of 2 May 2008.
