Careers Advisory Service sails through Matrix Accreditation audit

The Careers Advisory Service has passed the audit process for university careers services.

The three-day scrutiny examined how the service supports students and research staff to explore their options, make choices and achieve their goals.

Areas examined included the professionalism of staff, marketing, accessibility and service management.

Feedback was provided by students, academic staff and graduate recruiters.

Initiatives which were singled out for note include expansion of internship and vacation opportunities, especially the Enterprise Bursary Scheme, the University Summer Internship Scheme, and the Graduates for Business project which helps students get into graduate employment locally.

Services for international students and research postgraduates are currently undergoing particular development and were similarly noted by the assessor.

Matrix accreditation is awarded on a three-year cycle, and underpins continuous quality improvement.

Diane Hay, Head of Careers, expressed her thanks to the academic colleagues and the students who participated in the three-day assessment process.
