Viaduct - before
Before: The condition of the original retaining wall of the A36
Viaduct - after
After: The completed wall following reconstruction

Internal News - 23 June 2008

A36 fully operational again

The A36 was reopened overnight on Friday 20 June.

The Highways Agency and Interroute send thanks for the co-operation and patience of those staff and students affected by the extensive roadworks which have closed the road for the last 12 weeks.

As well as reconstruction works at the site of the viaduct, the road closure has allowed the Highways Agency to carry out additional maintenance tasks at the same time: repairing and resurfacing sections of carriageway, repainting road markings, cleaning the stonework of the viaduct, erecting new signs, clearing overgrown vegetation and cutting grass verges.

Interroute will be publishing an end of scheme survey some time this week. We will publish the link on the University homepage for those interested in providing feedback.
