Amanda Harper & Tim Greeves win Staff Recognition Awards

The winners of the 2008 Staff Recognition Awards are Amanda Harper, Department Manager in Biology & Biochemistry, and Tim Greeves, Social Programme Director in the English Language Section of ESML.

The awards were presented by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Glynis Breakwell, at this year's Staff Recognition Evening held in the Claverton Rooms.

Tim Greeves is a Bath Architecture graduate who has been working for the University for the last seven years. He is the Social Programme Director in the English Language Section of ESML.

He was nominated for the award by the Director of the English Language Centre, Howard Thomas, who said: "Tim has unfailingly met the highest standards of customer care towards his internal and external clients".

Tim is the director of the University's Alley Barbers close harmony group, and is active in the SCR, of which he is Vice-Chair.

Amanda Harper has worked at the University since 1994 and is Departmental Manager and Director of Student Placements in Biology & Biochemistry.

She was nominated by a large number of staff in her department on account of not only her routine duties but also her advisory role for students and her contribution to the general life of the department; she regularly organises cake, plant and book sales and other activities to raise money for charities - often those associated with areas of the department's research.

The Staff Recognition Award is made annually to members of staff, other than academics, who have shown initiative, innovation, creativity and who have worked beyond the call of duty to the benefit of the University.
