Dual accreditation for new engineering degree programme

The Integrated Mechanical Electrical Engineering (IMEE) degree programme, run jointly between the Departments of Mechanical and Electronic & Electrical Engineering, has been awarded accreditation status from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the UK's qualifying body for chartered and incorporated mechanical engineers.

The programme now has dual accreditation status from the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET), one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community.

Professor Alan Bramley, responsible for the accreditation process, said: “This is very good news for the students on this degree programme. In only its second year of operation we have achieved all our initial aims for the programme.”

This year’s entry will see 27 students joining the programme. The Dean of Engineering & Design, Professor Gary Hawley said: “When we first started to consider such a degree programme we were rigorous with our market analysis. The results from this showed there is a market, and we are now seeing the rewards for our due diligence.”
