Staff and students invited to attend debate on Britain’s agenda for Europe

Students and staff have the opportunity to debate the future of UK’s relationship with the EU with two expert speakers from the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) - the UK’s premier foreign policy think tank.

The event is taking place on 21 January from 1.15pm to 2.15pm in 2E 3.1 and will be chaired by Professor Richard G. Whitman, Professor of Politics in the Department of European Studies and Modern Language.

Speakers include Sir Stephen Wall, former UK Permanent Representative to the European Union, Chairman of the Chatham House Commission on Europe and Dr Robin Niblett, Director, The Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House)

Professor Whitman is the former Head of the European Programme at Chatham House and is still an Associate Fellow Europe. He initiated this project and is continuing his work from Bath.

He said: “Bath is recognised as a centre of excellence for European Studies and so Chatham House has only chosen us and one other University (Birmingham) at which to stimulate this debate on the future of the UK's relationship with Europe.”

A copy of the report A British Agenda for Europe: Designing our own future can be found on the left hand column.
