Press Release - 20 January 2009

The first steps to a career in youth work

Ever fancied working with young people and making a difference?

The University of Bath has teamed up with the City of Bristol College to offer a free information afternoon into its youth work foundation degree.

The higher education qualification combines academic and work-based learning resulting in an accredited qualification equivalent to two years of an honours degree, as well as obtaining youth worker status.

The course is particularly timely as from next year there are important legislative changes to youth work which will affect youth workers and those managing a youth work setting.

The free information afternoon will be held at the Cabot Restaurant at the City of Bristol College, Ashley Down Centre, Ashley Down Road, Bristol, on Monday, 9 February between 3.30pm and 6pm.

It’s aimed at anyone interested in becoming a youth worker, an individual currently in youth work, or managers requiring information regarding their obligations towards employees under new regulations.

Anyone interested in attending the information afternoon should contact Janet Lonsdale on 01225 388593 to reserve a space.
