Press Release - 05 June 2006University "very pleased" to be placed in top ten by Times guideThe University of Bath was “very pleased” to be ranked in the top ten of UK universities by The Times newspaper today. The University is placed ninth out of 109 institutions, a rise of four places on last year’s ranking. It is well placed when compared to other universities of its size and larger. The Times guide is widely held as authoritative within higher education. It measures nine aspects of a University’s performance: student satisfaction, research, entry standards, its staff-student ratio, spend on books and computers, spend on facilities, performance of students, students’ careers prospects and proportion of students graduating. The Times says that Bath is one of a “trio of universities founded during the expansion of the 1960s [that] is firmly established among the country’s educational elite”. The University was also placed ninth by The Guardian in its league table, published last month. A University of Bath spokesperson said: “We are very pleased to be given a high ranking and we feel this is a reflection of the strength in research and teaching carried out by our staff, and the way that our courses prepare our students for success in their careers.” Rankings of courses will be published by The Times later this week. The University of Bath is one of the UK's leading universities, with an international reputation for quality research and teaching. In 16 subject areas the University of Bath is rated in the top ten in the country. View a full list of the University's press releases: http://www.bath.ac.uk/news/releases Top |
