Nobel prize winner to give talk at University

A talk by Nobel prize-winning chemist Professor Ryoji Noyori will be held at the University of Bath on Monday 23 May.

Professor Noyori, president of the RIKEN Brain Science Institute in Japan, will give the free lecture on ‘Molecular Catalysts: Science and Opportunities' in the University Hall at 4-15pm.

Professor Noyori's research has focused on the fundamentals of molecular catalysis based on organometallic chemistry. Applications of his original chemistry, for which he won the Nobel in 2001, have allowed him and other scientists to achieve efficient syntheses of important organic molecules.

Members of the public are invited to the free event but should get tickets beforehand by emailing: millennium-lectures@bath.ac.uk

This is the latest event organised by the University's Department of Chemistry in its Millennium Lectures series. Previous speakers have included fertility expert Lord Robert Winston and TV presenter Johnny Ball.
