Bath has come tenth in the new Green Metric world university ranking published in December 2011. The top ten global ranking demonstrates the impact of efforts by colleagues and students across campus to improve the University's environmental performance, as well as the leadership of our specialists in Estates.

Vice-Chancellor launches University's new People Strategy

The Vice-Chancellor addressed a group of leaders, managers and staff from across the University on Wednesday 9 March in launching the University's new People Strategy. She emphasised the importance of the new People Strategy for all staff and how it is focused on developing and retaining the staff that the University needs.

Weighting of research impact confirmed for 2014 Research Excellence Framework

The four UK higher education funding bodies have today announced how they will recognise and reward excellent research that has led to wider social and economic benefits. The publication, 'Decisions on assessing research impact', confirms how much weighting the assessment of research impacts will have in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.

Managed Print Service: Project update

During 2011, we will continue to roll out our new Managed Print Service to improve the efficiency, cost-effectiveness and environmental impact of our printing. It is anticipated that this will save the University around £250,000 per year in printing costs.

The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) has announced the final configuration of units of assessment (UOAs) and the grouping of sub panels under main panels. It has also called for nominations for sub-panel members & sub-panel chairs.

HEFCE welcomes revised timetable for Research Excellence Framework (REF)

The timetable for the Research Excellence Framework (REF) has been confirmed. Submissions will be expected in 2013 before the assessment phase of the REF takes place during 2014 to inform funding from 2015-16.

Review of Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS)

The Joint Review Group (JRG), a sub-group of USS's Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC), held its final negotiations meeting on 30 April 2010. It was unable to come to an agreement on the necessary changes to USS. The JRG has now been disbanded with the USS JNC receiving two sets of formal proposals, one from the Employers Pension Forum and one from the UCU. It is anticipated that the JNC will reach a conclusion on 7 July 2010.
