The general aim of these web standards is to enrich the online experience for our University audience by improving the web content quality (accuracy, relevance, ease of use and so on). These standards when applied consistently will have a major impact in delivering a good user experience for our online visitors based upon their needs.

Sneak a peek at our new external homepage

As part of their ongoing work to redevelop the University website, Web Services are pleased to announce the soft launch of the new external homepage. The new page, due to be launched fully later this week, is the result of months of research, benchmarking, focus group and user testing.

New Induction Week web pages launched

A new set of Induction Week web pages has been developed which draws together relevant information and complements that being provided by individual departments. It also contains an Induction Checklist which is intended to help new students prioritise their activities.

Help shape the future of our website

The Web Services team is looking for volunteers to help test possible solutions to their design templates, which will affect all of the University's websites in the future. Testing sessions are on 11-13 August.

Improving the effectiveness of the University's website

The importance of our website is ever increasing as, for many, it is the first interaction with the University. A recent review of the ‘effectiveness of our website’ has led to a number of agreed actions which will enhance our web editing capability, clarify roles and responsibilities and ensure the site serves as a more effective marketing and communications tool.

New website: promoting our research

Web Services have now launched a research website as part of the new external website project. The site is the first top level section to be launched and will be followed by a new study area in December.

New Research website beta launched

Web Services is seeking feedback from the University community about their new "beta version" of the external Research webpages before the site goes live later in the year.
