Changes to internal homepage
You've probably noticed that the ‘news & information’ column on our internal homepage has changed; this is to ensure that colleagues do not miss important updates on funding and policy issues.

Fees & Access Working Group established
The Vice-Chancellor’s Group has established a Fees & Access Working Group to draft the University’s revised Access Agreement and to make recommendations on an appropriate fee structure.

HEFCE Board – decisions on 2011/12 funding for HE
Staff may recall Glynis Breakwell (Vice Chancellor) during her Christmas message outlining the challenging times higher education is set to face in 2011. She also alluded to how a clearer picture of the financial implications would emerge following the HEFCE Board meeting on 28 January 2011. Details of the decisions made at this meeting have now been published and a summary is available for all staff to read.

Executive Committee summary notes
Summary notes from the latest meeting of the executive committee, which took place on 8 December, 2010 have also been published and are now available for staff to read.

Section of Frome Road to close for three months
Those who travel to work via Frome Road should note that from Monday 7 February 2011 sections of the route will be closed for a maximum period of 3 months. This is to allow construction works associated with the new supermarket to be carried out.

Car sharing
The Care Share Permit scheme is designed for members of staff (and eligible students) who car/lift share with others. One permit can be purchased at the standard rate of £158.00 by a Principal Permit Holder, who will then undertake to collect the shared fee from the others in the group.

Watch England Rugby at the Rec
Bath Rugby are offering all University of Bath staff the opportunity to sit anywhere in the ground for £5 when England Saxons U20s take on Italy U20s at the Rec on 11 February, kick off 19.30. The university is set to launch a new eMarketplace which will make the process of buying staff goods and services on behalf of the University much more intuitive and considerably more like buying from other web suppliers such as Amazon. Creative societies for health & wellbeing
This day-long event held in the City of Bath focuses upon different issues connected with the role creative, social activities play in fostering and preserving health and wellbeing. The purpose of the day is to look at fundamental aspects of creative activities in individual and social groupings and how these activities influence peoples' health and well-being.

Bath Science Challenge in Malaysia
Malaysia & India, are both set to participate in this years 'Bath Science Challenge' organised by the International Office. The purpose of the workshops is to allow students to experience interactive, lab-based learning from a top ten university and to encourage interest in science subjects at the University of Bath.

TurningPoint 2008 Masterclass
Since the beginning of the 2008/2009 academic year, the e-Learning team have been supporting a TurningPoint-based Audience Response System (ARS), which now totals 400 clickers, available in bags of 40 or 80 handsets. Given the extensive use of the ARS over the last couple of years, the e-Learning team are now hosting a TurningPoint 2008 Masterclass.

Graduate heads TeamBath challenge at Badminton Nationals
Rachel Howard (Psychology Graduate) will head the University of Bath's challenge at this weekend’s English National Badminton Championships in Manchester. Howard, who having completed her degree still trains at the University, is seeded two in the women’s singles.

TeamBath netballers prepare to build on opening Superleague win
The University of Bath's reigning Superleague champions ran out comfortable 59-26 winners at Team Northumbria last Saturday (29 January). They aim to follow up that victory in home games held at the STV against Celtic Dragons on Thursday (3 February) and Loughborough Lightning on Monday (7 February).
