Sports drinks give an edge to Olympic-distance triathletes
Researchers from the Department for Health have shown for the first time that ingesting a carbohydrate sports drink during an Olympic-distance triathlon improves performance.
Dr Jessica Francombe from the University’s Sport, Physical Activity and Culture Research Group, has contributed to an All Parliamentary Group on Body Image which was released on 30 May.

Foreign Languages Centre (FLC) Saturday conversation classes Throughout JuneThe FLC conversation classes aim to develop speaking skills, whilst using topics and grammar structures learnt during the academic year. The classes are open to existing students or to anyone interested in practising the language, but not to complete beginners.

Please let your students know that the University is running a competition for the best research web page or blog created by a Bath research student. The winner will receive an Amazon Kindle.

The Rail Ticket printing machine in the library is not working. A replacement printer will be installed as soon as possible.

Stephen Baddeley, Director of Sport at Team Bath and former British Badminton Team Manager at the 1992 Olympics, says athletes preparing for London 2012 will currently be experiencing a huge amount of pressure.
Hadia’s Olympic place is confirmed
Bath student and badminton player Hadia Hosny El Said has had her place on the Egyptian team for the London 2012 Olympic Games confirmed.
Bath Swimming Club swimmer Liz Johnson has had her place on the British team to compete at the London 2012 Paralympic Games confirmed.
