in five people will face a ‘shameful’ death
Most people are unprepared for the shameful reality of how they could
die, warns Professor Allan Kellehear, the author of a new book charting
the social history of dying.

Senior nurses are not being given enough time by their employers to complete
the training to enable them to continue their career progression, says
the head of one of the UK’s doctorate programmes for healthcare
professionals.
Cash aid schemes bring benefits beyond famine relief
Aid initiatives
that give people at risk of famine cash instead of food can be a more
efficient way of helping those in need, according to the
first academic study of this kind of scheme.

Former Home Secretary David Blunkett today said Tony Blair’s legacy
was an ‘irreversible’ transformation of the British political
scene. He was speaking at the Political Studies Association annual conference
which is being held on campus (11-13 April 2007). Technology
and enterprise greet the Duke of Kent at Oakfield
The Duke of Kent discovered technology, enterprise and community business
activities at Oakfield when he met staff, students and entrepreneurs
on a visit to the campus (Thursday 12 April).
Science Minister to visit University's vehicle research centre
The Minister for Science and Innovation, Malcolm Wicks, will visit the
University of Bath on Monday 16 April to see its innovative work to
make vehicles greener and more efficient.
Dragster fun for school students
Students from schools in Bath, Bradford-on-Avon and Swindon had the chance
to put science skills into practice in an inter-schools dragster competition
organised by the University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Three research papers highly commended
Three research papers co-authored by scientists in the Department of
Pharmacy & Pharmacology have been highlighted as some of the most
interesting current papers in biology and chemical biology, based on
the recommendations of over 1,000 leading scientists.
Get into art in Bath this summer
People in Bath and visitors to the city have the chance to go to art

run by the University.

One of the UK’s leading experts takes a critical look at child
mental health services by examining the evidence, practice and future

Chancellor's Medal
Candidates should have given exceptional service that is not directly academic in nature, usually over a long period of time, to further the life and work of the University. Thus, the Medal will not normally be awarded to employees of the University, for whom other mechanisms exist for rewarding their contribution. The award is not restricted to any particular group of people (for example former Council members) but is open to any individual who has supported the University and promoted its strategies and development in a significant
and dedicated way.

This award recognises either individual members, or small groups, of
support staff who have shown excellence in the way in which they have
undertaken their duties. The award consists of a cash prize of £500
