New R5 student development gets go-ahead from planners
The University’s proposal to build 355 new student bedrooms on
land between Marlborough Court and the eastern campus boundary has been
granted planning consent by Bath & North East Somerset Council.

Bath conference: New frontiers in cellular imaging
A day-long conference on the new and emerging opportunities in cellular
imaging will be held at the University on 10 January to mark the formal
opening of the new Bioimaging Suite in the Centre for Electron Optical
Studies.
Local Barclays employee raises funds for arthritis research in Bath
Local Barclays employee Brian O’Connor recently took part in
a fundraising event in aid of the Bath Institute for Rheumatic Diseases,
a charity linked to
the School for Health that
supports research and education into many aspects of bone and joint disease.

Year opening times on campus
The University will be closed from 23 December 2006 until 1 January 2007 inclusive.
During the Christmas and New Year period many facilities and services on campus
and in Bath have limited opening hours.

An academic from existing staff with responsibility for championing inclusion
is required to work with colleagues, student support services and the Students'
Union, and lead the processes of review, redesign and consultation on procedures
affecting inclusive academic practice.
