Conservative leader visits University of Bath research centre
David Cameron, leader of the Conservative Party, met
academics from the Centre for Research in Education & the Environment (CREE)
today to find out how education can help address environmental and sustainability issues.
Simple answer to childhood obesity: kick a football around for 15 minutes a day?
Research by Chris Riddoch (School for Health) suggests that making even small increases to your daily exercise routine, such as walking your child to school each day instead of taking the car, could have dramatic long-term results on child obesity. Project explores how technology ‘rollouts' could help spread good practice in child protection
Louise Brown (Social & Policy Sciences) in collaboration with other researchers will use the theory behind how businesses roll out new technologies to investigate ways of encouraging the spread of new social programmes designed to prevent child abuse and neglect.

Awards help University build bridges with US
The University has recently received three awards, in the area of regenerative medicine, under the Department of Trade & Industry's Office of Science and Innovation Science Bridges Programme. Building work on new student flats begins on Monday
Construction work on the new 355-bed student accommodation on campus begins on Monday (26 March). Work will begin on putting in the foundations for the building, an extension to the Eastwood student housing village, and also known as R5. Sheila Bradley retires from Purchasing Services after 22 years
Sheila retired on Wednesday 21 March, she has worked at the University for 22 years and 6 months and is known by many colleagues across all departments of the University.
Announcement of the death of Louise Poulson
The University regrets to announce the death of Louise Poulson, former lecturer in the Department of Education. There will be a service of celebration at 1.30pm on Monday 26 March at St Luke's Chapel at the University of Exeter, St Luke's Campus, on Heavitree Road. The service will be followed by a private family cremation. Donations to Kate Youngs in 1WN 3.7.
Prospective students get a fresh insight into University life
More than 100 prospective students from across the UK and Europe attended the University's first Saturday Tour earlier this month. The new style of visit gives applicants the opportunity to have an informal tour of the campus and to meet current students.

There will be severe disruption to all network services between 9am-5pm this Saturday (24 March) while BUCS carries out vital network engineering work.
Results of Red Nose Day collection
The combined BUCS Red Nose Day Mouse Cursor and UBSA Horse Racing event collected a total of £400 for Comic Relief. Thanks to everyone who made such a splendid contribution. Staff and children from the Nursery will be coming round within the next two weeks to collect all pledges made.
University Playscheme
The Easter Playscheme (UP)
will run from Wednesday 11 April to Friday 13 April 2007 (closed 9-10 April) at St Martins Garden Primary School from 8.30am - 5.30pm.
Cost: £8 a day for students ; £15 a day for staff. The playscheme is
now accepting children up to the age of 12 and parents are welcome to use the Care4 Voucher Scheme.

The exhibition celebrates an exceptional painting of a market stall by Gabriel Metsu, one of the most intriguing artists of the Dutch Golden Age together with works which explore the same themes and ideas by Sam Taylor-Wood and Marc Quinn, two of the most celebrated artists of today.
The show also includes an impressive response to the themes and ideas of the exhibition by Bath Spa University students.
Team Bath netballers help England under-19s retain Netball Europe title
Steph Essex, an 18-year-old Civil & Architectural Engineering student, was vice captain of the successful England squad and played in all four of the team's matches.
Coach Education & Sports Development student Rachel Henry, a mid-court player, also featured in all four games.
