Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 information session Tuesday 4 September

Researchers to evaluate a new concussion protocol for rugby
Dr Keith Stokes, Dr Grant Trewartha and PhD student Matt Cross from the University’s Department for Health have been chosen by the Rugby Football Union and Premiership Rugby to evaluate the trial of a Pitch Side Concussion Assessment, designed to give medical teams more time and a better environment to assess head injuries during play.

Dr James Betts, Senior Lecturer in the University’s Department for Health has disputed BBC Panorama and the associated British Medical Journal (BMJ) series of articles regarding sports products research.

Information session taking place on REACT Knowledge Exchange Hub Wednesday 5 September

This workshop aims to help those who are being reviewed for the first time to understand their role in this two-way process. During the course delegates will have the opportunity to consider the objectives and benefits of performance review, explore the process and consider what they might wish to do in preparation for their review meeting.

This session will explain the process from the initial job advert through to selection and appointment of student staff. This will include the paperwork, ID checks and working regulations and the skills students can gain through this employment.

This session is an introduction for all new line managers on the responsibilities and processes involved in managing people at the University.

Leading teams: Building, motivating & developing staff Friday 14 September
This course aims to promote management practices and techniques which engender good team morale and also help managers when things don’t go so well.

One way system in place due to closure on north access road
The section of the north access road that runs from Founder's Hall to the Estates Office will be closed from 20 August through to completion of the GTA building in September 2013. A one way system will operate during this period. The Estates car park has also closed.

Bath storm to victory in UK Maths postgraduate football tournament
The ATASS sponsored Bath team battled ten teams from eight universities in the UK Maths Postgraduate football tournament to bring the competition home in 2013 for the first time since it was founded in 2009.

The silver medal achieved by French and Politics student Samantha Murray saw her climb to number three in the modern pentathlon world rankings.
