Ashdown says Iraq reconstruction is a 'catastrophic failure'

Students encouraged to think green
Students are being encouraged to ‘Switch it off, Turn it down, Keep it closed' as part of a week of events to raise awareness about simple ways to be more environmentally friendly. Green Week will run all next week.

The Department of Computer Science has signed an agreement to develop closer links with the National Institute of Informatics in Japan, one of the world's leading research institutions in the field of informatics.

World land speed record breaker
Bath graduate, Angus Lock, was the leading aerodynamicist on the development of the JCB DIESELMAX diesel vehicle which, on 23 August 2006, smashed the FIA land speed record, setting a new mark of 350.092mph.

Student creates specialist web forum
Mechanical Engineering student, Gordon Ho, utilised a University Enterprise Bursary to fund taking part in a missionary trip around the UK working with local Chinese churches. Since returning he has established an online forum (www.ilumu.com), whose aim is to connect Chinese Christian Churches/Fellowships around the world.

Changes to EPSRC First Grant Scheme
Main changes: For a trial period of one year, the scheme's upper limit has been removed and new academics can apply for a first grant from 24 months to 36 months from the date of first appointment.

Campus road closure for Road Race Sunday
The next TeamBath Road Race will take place on campus this Sunday 26 November 2006 at 10am. Certain roads on campus will be closed for a short period of time.

December pay date
The Christmas pay date will be 20 December 2006.

University Carol Service
This year's Carol Service will take place on Wednesday 13 December (not Thursday as usual). The service, in Bath Abbey, starts at 7.30pm; get there early to get a seat.

Strategy to place University website among the best is agreed
A strategy to place the University's website 'at the forefront of academic websites in the UK' in the next two years has been agreed by the Executive Committee.
