Stuart Miller announced as the UK’s first formally recognised specialist in Sport
& Exercise Medicine
Stuart Miller, Clinical Director of the MSc in Sport & Exercise
Medicine (School for Health), has achieved specialist recognition following
an endorsement by the Faculty of Sport & Exercise Medicine (FSEM).
Build to Order: The Road to the 5-Day Car
Glenn Parry and Andrew
Graves (School for Management) have published a book entitled Build to Order:
The Road to the 5-day Car. The book addresses the conceptual and
practical aspects of achieving the automotive industry’s next goal: the rapid
delivery to the customer of a bespoke vehicle, only days after placing an order.
New book: People Management and Performance
Nicholas Kinnie, Juani Swart, and Bruce Rayton of the School of Management,
with John Purcell of Warwick Business School and Sue Hutchinson, principal
lecturer at Bristol Business School, have co-written a book: People Management
and Performance.
Amiens International Film Festival
Brian Neve (ESML) was an invited guest at the Amiens International Film
Festival, France on 7-16 November. He contributed to the festival catalogue,
commenting
on the director, Cy Endfield, to whom a tribute was made during the festival.

University celebrates ten years of local learning partnerships
The University is celebrating ten years of learning partnerships with colleges
and charities in Bath and across the South West. The collaboration has given
thousands of local people access to high quality, vocationally-oriented higher
education courses, ranging from digital media arts to youth work.
City of Bath hosts University winter graduation ceremonies
The University will host the winter graduation ceremonies at the Assembly Rooms
on 9 and 10 December.
University
hosts meeting of US enterprise and learning academics
Ian Jamieson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Learning & Teaching
and Faith Butt, Director for Lifelong Learning, met with two senior US academics
to discuss the culture of enterprise amongst new generations.

Imaging, Design & Print Services are offering a 'drop-in'
staff portrait session from 1.45 til 3.15pm on Wednesdays. Come along and have
your department portrait done professionally in our studio for an inclusive price

nomination by the University for the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme.
New model of University calculator now available for use in the library
The Registry is changing the model of University calculator that is used
during formal assessments. This change will be implemented in time for the
S1 2008/9 Assessment Period.
Research volunteers wanted: Earn £5 in 40 minutes
Charlotte McLeod, a PhD researcher in the Department of Psychology is looking
for volunteers for her experiment into pain and self-regulation.
Bolivian handicrafts go on sale in Students' Union shop
A range of fairly traded Bolivian handicrafts are to go on sale in the Students’
Union shop on Monday, imported to the UK by SIFE Bath social enterprise
project Esperanza Economica.

Hospitality is currently reviewing its supply chain to ensure customers receive the best quality, ethically sourced, value for money products. Coffee is the top selling product on campus across our outlets and it is therefore important we gather our customers' views when considering changes. A group of final year Pharmacy students are researching the general knowledge of staff and students about chlamydia. They would be very grateful if you could complete their survey.
LGB&T experiences in HE
In the first national survey of its kind, Equality Challenge Unit has commissioned research into the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGB&T) staff and students in higher education. Deadline: 9 December.

Coach Education & Sports Development student Mariana Agathangelou scored
the biggest success of her badminton career by winning the women’s doubles
title at
the Bank
of Scotland International Badminton Championships.
Netball:
TeamBath make it five wins from five
TeamBath’s netballers made it five wins from five in the Co-operative Superleague
with an emphatic 63-29 win over Team Northumbria on Monday.
Gibbons just misses under-23 Euro medals
Sports Performance student Gemma Gibbons just missed out on the medals
at the Under-23 European Judo Championships in Croatia, finishing fifth.
