Review of Oakfield Strategy
On 1 March 2007, Council commissioned a review of the University's Oakfield Strategy. In order to progress this review, the Executive Committee has now established an Oakfield Strategy Review Group.

Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of the National League for Democracy in Myanmar (Burma), and a noted prisoner of conscience, is the focus of a new play. Aung San was awarded an Honorary Degree by the University in 1998.

PhD student Mark Malins (International Centre for the Environment) spoke on deer management and public perceptions at the Deer Initiative conference on deer habitats and impacts last week.

University Playscheme
The Easter Playscheme (UP)
will run from Wednesday 11 April to Friday 13 April 2007 (closed 9-10 April) at St Martins Garden Primary School from 8.30am - 5.30pm.
Cost: £8 a day for students ; £15 a day for staff. The playscheme is

NOMINATIONS SOUGHT
Chancellor's Medal
Candidates should have given exceptional service that is not directly academic in nature, usually over a long period of time, to further the life and work of the University. Thus, the Medal will not normally be awarded to employees of the University, for whom other mechanisms exist for rewarding their contribution. The award is not restricted to any particular group of people (for example former Council members) but is open to any individual who has supported the University and promoted its strategies and development in a significant
and dedicated way.
Staff Recognition Award - deadline 28 April
This award recognises either individual members, or small groups, of support staff who have shown excellence in the way in which they have undertaken their duties. The award consists of a cash prize of £500 to the successful nominee. Please consider nominating outstanding members of support staff. Postgraduate Community Prize - deadline 30 April

- Equinox by Bath University Student Dance Society (18-21 April, 7.30pm in ICIA Arts Theatre)
This inventive show explores the relationship between the seasons and elements, creating a fusion of dance and the natural world. Choreographed and performed by students from the University's vivacious dance society, this show incorporates a variety of dance styles and performances from guest societies.

Uruguayan rugby team visits Bath
The Uruguayan National Under-19 Rugby Team arrived at the University this week for a short break before taking part in the U19 World Rugby Championships in Belfast, starting 4 April.
