Graduation ceremonies at Bath Abbey next week
Theatre director Sir Peter Hall and former Vodaphone head Sir Christopher Gent are to receive honorary doctorates from the University next week. There will be ten ceremonies from 4-6 July at which 2,500 undergraduates and postgraduate students, the most ever graduating from the University, will receive their degree awards.
Helping teachers educate pupils in engineering
A forum to help teachers to educate their pupils in engineering and inform them of career opportunities will be held on campus on Wednesday 5 July.
University sports facilities win national design award
The Sports Training Village has been awarded a commendation at this year's national Structural Steel Design Awards. The awards commemorate innovative and effective design using steel.
University signs up to groundbreaking energy-saving initiative
The aim of the energy efficiency scheme is to cut energy consumption for participating members by at least 10 per cent over the next three years. It could save an estimated £4.7m and significant amounts of CO2 between now and 2012.
Free training for small-business owners
People running small businesses in the Bath and Swindon areas are invited to free workshops run by the University of Bath in Swindon's Business Hub. The workshops will be held on Tuesday 4 July in Bath and Tuesday 11 July in Swindon, from 9am to 4pm.

Sign up now for autumn language classes
The Foreign Languages Centre specialises in teaching languages to a wide spectrum of student and adult learners. This programme is open to all with no formal entry requirements. Autumn classes start on 2 October 2006 and take place at lunchtimes and in the evening.
RCUK announcement: Improved access to research outputs
The Research Councils recognise that the area of access to research outputs is highly complex and on which there are a broad range of opinions. Individual research councils will be producing specific guidance to the research communities they fund on access to outputs in each field of research. This guidance will be published by Research Councils as soon as it is available. Clarion Deaf Alerter System on campus
The University campus has a deaf alerter system, this system is installed for staff, students and visitors who are deaf, or who have impaired hearing. It alerts these individuals with a vibrating pager in the event of a fire alarm being activated. A text message is sent to the pager stating which building is generating a fire alarm on campus.

Ivor's 90th birthday
