HEIDI is the Higher Education Information Database for Institutions developed and run by HESA. HESA describe HEIDI as "a web-based management information service that provides easy access to a rich source of quantitative data about higher education." The University of Bath is one of 135 institutions across the UK to subscribe to the service.
HEIDI may be accessed by all authorised users within the University. To obtain a user account contact the Office of Policy and Planning.
Training tools and guidance may be accessed directly from the HEIDI site by following the links on the right of this page.
HEIDI contains information about academic years 2000/01 to presnt. Much of this is taken from institutional HESA returns which are submitted in autumn/winter each year. These data typically become available the following summer and are available at whole institution level, or split by cost centre. The range of information taken from HESA returns includes the following data types, and much more.
- Staff details by job category and cost centre
- Student details by level and mode of study
- Student:Staff ratios
- Degree classifications
- Income and expenditure for teaching and research
Additional data from sources including HEFCE, UCAS the Trainging Development Agency (TDA) and the National Student Survey (NSS) are provided alongside data supplied by HESA. These data include:
- RAE results
- NSS outcomes
- UCAS application and acceptance figures
- Graduate destinations data
Details of the datasets in HEIDI are provided in two data specification documents accessible by following the links below.
