HEIDI data

HEIDI contains information about academic years 2000/01 to present. Much of this is taken from institutional HESA returns which are submitted in autumn/winter each year. These data typically become available the following spring and are available at whole institution level, or split by cost centre. The range of information taken from HESA returns includes the following data types, and much more.

  • Staff details by job category and cost centre
  • Student details by level and mode of study
  • Student:Staff ratios
  • Degree classifications
  • Income and expenditure for teaching and research

Additional data from sources including UCAS and the National Student Survey (NSS) are provided alongside data supplied by HESA. These data include:

  • REF results
  • NSS outcomes
  • UCAS application and acceptance figures
  • Graduate destinations data

Details of the datasets in HEIDI are provided in two data specification documents:
