Back pain related to spinal disorders is the cause millions of consultations to healthcare providers throughout the world. Back pain is second only to the common cold as the most frequent reason for patients being seen in primary care. There has been an enormous growth in the development of new implants, instrumentation and technologies to treat spinal disorders. This symposium will address the impact of biomechanics research on the development of treatment for spinal disorders.

Papers are invited from engineers, scientists and clinicians that focus on the current understanding and future direction of spinal biomechanics research encompassing areas such as: disc replacement, spinal instrumentation, motion analysis, spine simulators and vertebroplasty.

The program will include an opportunity to view the latest work being undertaken at our diverse research centre.
