Dr Nikoletta Fotaki
Profile
Dr Nikoletta Fotaki is a UK-registered Greek Pharmacist. She graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece and she obtained a MSc in Toxicology from the University of Surrey in the UK. She completed her PhD in Biopharmaceutics-Pharmacokinetics at the School of Pharmacy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece. During this period she worked on various research projects. She worked as a Pharmacist in the National Organisation of Drugs in Greece (EOF) and she was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Pharmacy (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece) upon completion of her Ph.D degree. After that she was offered a further postdoctoral fellowship by Roche ( New Jersey, USA).
Dr Fotaki’s research and activities are focused on the prediction of oral drug absorption, which is an area of very keen interest in the pharmaceutical world due to the increasing use of libraries to screen structures for potential activity and the need to select leads based not only on potential receptor interactions but also on the basis of ability to be absorbed orally. She is working on the development of in vitro screening tools and associated softwares for predicting oral absorption, the assessment of the impact of changes in drug substance properties and changes in the formulation process on bioavailability , animal models for predicting absorption, and in vitro-in vivo correlations/ in vitro-in vivo relations.
