Best Scientific Communication award at international thrombosis and haemostasis congress

Giordano Pula wins award Dr Giordano Pula has been awarded the CSL Behring Award for the best scientific communication at the Congress on Controversies in Thrombosis and Haemostasis (CiTH).

Over 200 leading clinicians and clinical scientists in the field of thrombosis and haemostasis from 35 countries came together in Berlin to discuss challenges in vascular research.

Dr Giordano Pula was awarded the scientific communication award for his presentation titled 'Amyloid peptide-dependent activation of human platelets: essential role for CA2+ and ADP'.

This study, funded by Alzheimer Research UK’s and performed in collaboration with Dr Canobbio and Prof Torti of the University of Pavia (Italy), clarified how blood cells and blood vessels can be affected in Alzheimer's patients. This research sheds new light on the causes of brain function degeneration in Alzheimer's Disease and opens new scenarios for the treatment of this disease.
