The Imaging and Photographic Unit provides a professional, expert service to all its clients both internally and externally. Attention to detail is paid to all work no matter how large or small the job is to ensure the client gets the bet possible results in terms of clarity, colour management and in fulfilling the brief to the clients’ expectations.  All work is shot using the latest professional camera equipment, lenses and lighting to achieve the results expected of a pro service. All images are captured using the camera’s RAW image format and then processed on high end PC’s using the best software available to extract the most detail from the images giving the photographer full control over the contrast, exposure, colour saturation and sharpness of the supplied images.

Location Photography

By booking the photographer you can arrange to have a shoot in your very own department. This can cover:

• VIP guests visiting the department
• Launching of new areas of research for press releases and publicity
• The latest ground breaking research in your labs
• Environmental portraits of staff in their place of work (offices or labs etc) for use on web or in brochures etc
• Formal portraits of staff with portable background (ask for details)
• Coverage of conferences and keynote speakers along with delegates
• Formal dinners and reunions in Claverton Rooms or Wessex Restaurant
• Great shots of your faculty or department building both inside and out (check with us first – we might already have these on file for you!)

Studio Photography

• Professional fully equipped studio for stunning product photography (many commercial shoots undertaken) as well as high class portraiture and beauty photography.
• Staff portraits and ID photos for department use on display boards and web pages (see our Wednesday drop in session special offer)
• VISA and passport photos (all global government departments catered for)

Scanning and Digital Imaging

• All work now is fully digital using professional imaging equipment. We have the capability to provide drum quality scans from positive and negative film originals to produce image files suitable for high quality glossy reproduction.
• Scanning from 35mm – 6x7 cm Slides/Transparencies to high resolution.
• Scanning from colour or Black & White Negatives 35mm – 6x7 cm
• Scanning from original prints up to A4
• Copying originals from A4 and larger (up to A0) to create high resolution digital files
• Your image files can also be submitted for correction and colour balancing to enhance their output. Ask for more info
• Retouching of digital files available (removal of artefacts, people, lamp posts etc) – ask for a quote

Printing

• High quality inkjet prints can now be produced in-house with our professional, high speed Epson A2+ printer, using the latest archival inks and a range of papers.
• Prints can be supplied within 4.
• Standard reprints from your digital camera can be handled for you (using an external provider). Your images will be individually assessed and corrected (within limits) to provide the best possible quality.
• Framed display prints for your department, for yourself or as a gift can be supplied

Image Library

• The department now has its very own online image library where Campus users can search the vast archive of images for themselves. Images can be requested for use in websites, departmental brochures, prospectus entries and other media. A charge of £10 per image applies to this service (Fotoware).
