Prof Nigel Cronin
Profile
My current research is centred around the use of Microwaves in surgery and medical therapy. Working in collaboration with clinicians at the Bath Royal United Hospital my research group developed the technique known as Microwave Endometrial Ablation. This is a microwave based method of treating the gynaecological condition menorrhagia. MEA is now a standard technique used in NHS hospitals and throughout the world with many thousands of successful treatments. My most recent research is aimed at extending the use of microwaves to the treatment of other conditions particularly various forms of cancer.
