Biography
Limin Xiao obtained his Master degree in Optical Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2004. He started research towards his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from November 2004 and successfully passed PhD oral presentation in January 2008. His Master work was related to double-cladding fibre lasers and beam shaper of laser diode array. His PhD work was related to novel splice techniques, micro-hole collapse effect in photonic crystal fibres (PCFs) and PCF sensors. His research interests include fibre-optic devices, fibre sensors and lasers.
In February 2008, he joined CPPM as a postdoctoral research officer to work on the applications of silica aerogel with tapered fibres and PCFs.
