General Information
Are you interested in coming to work at Bath as an academic? If you are an experienced postdoc with a solid research background, and are looking to take the next step in your career, then you are invited to consider how your research objectives fit with our interests here at Bath. Alternatively, if you are an established academic who likes the look of what you see here, think about whether a move to Bath might be right for you. Bath as a city offers an outstanding quality of life, while the CPPM provides a stimulating, friendly and well-resourced environment for research. Please get in touch (t.a.birks@bath.ac.uk) if you are interested.
There are no PhD studentships available at present.
Postdoctoral Positions
A 24-month position is available to work with Jonathan Knight on developing and fabricating hollow-core optical fibres. The project involves working collaboratively in a team at Bath and with our partners at Heriot-Watt University and in industry to demonstrate novel fibres with real-world applications. For further details and to apply online please see https://www.bath.ac.uk/jobs/Vacancy.aspx?ref=JK1022
Advanced Research Fellowships
If you have several years of postdoctoral experience and are interested in working with us, the Royal Society University Research Fellowships and the EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowships (both 5-10 year appointments) are very attractive. Awarded competitively once a year, these allow you to define and develop your own research area - and of course to collaborate with other members of the group.
For more senior researchers with academic or industrial backgrounds, the Royal Society also offers a variety of opportunities, including Industrial Fellowships .
If you are interested in exploring these options, please study the websites (in particular your eligibility) and get in touch with us.
Visiting Scientists
We have very limited funds to invite PhD students or postdoctoral researchers from anywhere in the world to work in the group for up to three months. The visitors must have a permanent job or be a full-time student in their home institution. The research topic will be decided in detail in advance, the over-arching aim being a highly productive collaboration.
We are of course delighted to welcome self-funded visitors with excellent track records in research!
