UNESCO World Heritage Status for Burgundian Vineyards

17-18 June 2011 (Dijon, Palais des Ducs de Bourgogne)

Dr Marion Demossier spoke as a member of the scientific panel of experts at the Feedback Conference held in Dijon (Burgundy) on 17th and 18th June 2011 under the auspices of the Association pour la Reconnaissance des Climats de Bourgogne.

The meeting was an important stage in the campaign for recognition of the ‘Climats du vignoble de Bourgogne’ as part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.

This gathering accompanied the publication of a book entitled ‘Les climats du vignoble de Bourgogne comme patrimoine de l’humanité’ (The 'Climats' of the Burgundy vineyard as global patrimony), which has been published by the Editions Universitaires de Dijon (EUD).

Speakers and topics included 35 experts from different disciplines ranging from geology to history and anthropology. Hugh Johnson, the famous British wine writer, contributed to the debate.
