Nintendo staff enhance their interpreting skills at Bath
13 July 2011
Ten members of staff working for Nintendo as Japanese/English interpreters visited the University last month to attend a CPD course run by course directors from the MA Interpreting and Translating programme from PoLIS (Dept of Politics, Languages and International Studies).
The Nintendo professionals came to enhance their Japanese/English interpreting skills and to benefit from the University’s state-of-the-art language laboratories.
Practical sessions gave the delegates training on key aspects of interpretation including note-taking skills, public speaking skills as well as consecutive, liaison and simultaneous interpreting.
The skills gained will benefit them in their day to day roles which involve a range of internal and external communications between Nintendo of Europe GmbH, the headquarters in Kyoto and other video game developers in Japan.
