New simultaneous interpretation course endorsed by the United Nations

2 August 2011

Sudents in interpreting boothThe Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies has launched a new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course that is endorsed by the United Nations (UN) and European Union (EU).

The course is the first of its type offered by an institution and is specifically designed to prepare students for the UN free-lance competitive examinations. There is currently high demand for English booth interpreters from French, Spanish and Russian.

The course will be held at regular intervals throughout the year and, where possible, will coincide with the institution's set test dates. The first dates for the course will be Saturday 17 to Friday 23 December 2011 (preparing students for exams in January 2012).

The new course follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the University of Bath and the United Nations in 2009.
