A British poet with Russian roots has won the poetry competition at the Pushkin In Britain Festival.

Olga Tabachnikova, Lecturer in Russian Studies at the University of Central Lancashire, and a Visiting Research Fellow in the Department, was awarded the accolade of 'queen of poets' at the festival held to commemorate the anniversary of Alexander Pushkin's birth on June 6, 1799.

Her twin background in science and the humanities enables Olga to pursue diverse academic activities at the University of Bath. She holds two doctorates from the University in Franco-Russian Studies (2007) and in Mathematics (1995). Olga continues her research resulting from a successfully accomplished project on Russian Jewish Cultural Continuity in the Diaspora.
