Tue May 24 09:50:00 BST 2016

From Thursday 26 May to Saturday 29 May, researchers from the University of Bath will host the initial event of a three-year EU-funded research project called UNREST – Unsettling Remembering and Social Cohesion in Transnational Europe. The event will take place at Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution and will be attended by researchers from Denmark, Germany, Poland and Spain. The project investigates the different ways in which conflict is remembered in Europe today.

The researchers involved in this project from Bath are:

Department of Politics Languages & International Studies

Department of Computer Science

Professor Bull commented, "We are excited to be working on this project with some of the best Memory Studies researchers from across Europe. The collaboration between humanities and social science researchers, computer scientists and artists leading to innovative impact activities is also very welcome."

As part of this launch, a screening of Joshua Oppenheimer’s critically acclaimed documentary film, The Look of Silence, has been organised at The Edge on Thursday 26 May, 7.30pm. This will be followed by a discussion of the film led by Professor Bull and Professor Hans Lauge Hansen (University of Aarhus), looking into the key questions addressed by UNREST’s new research.
