Some of our Euromasters, MA International Relations and MA International Security students took part in a prestigious NATO summer school at the University of Bologna in June 2016.

Students Lora Stoyanova, Elizabeth Weisswange, Elisabetta Meloni and Kalina Angelova from the Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies, succeeded in a competitive process to gain places at the prestigious NATO summer school.

After three days of intensive classes on the history, operation and evolution of NATO, students enjoyed a two-day NAC simulation event, facilitated by NATO officials.

Speaking about the experience, Lora says: 'The simulation provided a great way to learn to confidently speak in public and learn about all the member countries' policies about security and defence and their involvement in NATO. Furthermore, the whole event was a great networking opportunity- not only were there students from several different universities and countries, but we also got to meet several high- ranking NATO generals and other personnel.'

Dr Maria Garcia, Director of Studies for the courses, says: 'Getting so many of our master’s students accepted on this summer school is a testament to their high calibre, and I am delighted they enjoyed such a fantastic opportunity and that the Department was able to support Lora's and Elizabeth's travel to the event.'
