  • In 2012-2013 Gian Luca sat on the Bi-Regional Steering Committee of the First EU-CELAC Academic Summit (Santiago de Chile, 2013).

Profile

Gian Luca Gardini is Senior Lecturer in International Relations and Latin American Politics. He is also the Director of Studies of the Politics master programmes (MA Euromaster, MA International Relations, MA International Security, MA International Relations and European Politics, and MRes). Gian Luca also coordinates the Bath Latin American Network and co-directed the European Research Institute (2007-2010).

He holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Cambridge. He is also Associate Fellow of the Institute for the Study of the Americas at the University of London and an Erasmus Visiting Lecturer at the Universities of Bologna and Udine in Italy.

He is the  author of 'Latin America in the 21st Century' (Zed Books, 2012), 'Latin American Foreign Policies' (co-edited with PW Lambert, Palgrave 2011), and ‘The Origins of Mercosur' (Palgrave 2010). He has published extensively on regional integration, foreign policy and the international relations of Latin America.

Gian Luca also acted as Representative of the Italian Confederation of Industry (Confindustria) to the European Union and as International Trade Advisor to the European Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Eurochambres).
